The Opportunity
Working as an experienced member of the Energy Transition team (Real Assets
Investment team) your role is to make an important contribution to the development, implementation and active management of energy transition investment strategies and investments. It is a requirement that you hold a combination of energy sector expertise together with strong financial and commercial acumen.
The Energy Transition team is responsible for leading and executing the Future Fund’s strategic approach to investing in the Energy Transition sector. You will be part of the dedicated Energy Transition team which will work with sector teams across the Future Fund portfolio. The Energy Transition team collaborates with teams, spanning the full range of traditional and alternative investment sectors, including infrastructure & timberland, private equity, listed equities, credit, real estate, hedge funds/alternatives.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you’ll lead M&A transactions, conduct due diligence on new fund relationships and co-investments, and work closely with our investment partners as well as portfolio companies to monitor performance and help shape strategies for current investments in the energy transition sector. The investment scope covers both domestic and international markets.
As a member of the Investment team, you will be required to provide insights into the Future Fund’s broader investment programs to support the achievement of the investment objectives of the various investment mandates managed by the Agency. This role is expected to have regard to the total portfolio risk/return characteristics and guidelines.
About You
You are a commercially minded investment professional with a tertiary qualification in economics, commerce, finance or a related discipline, and bring strong investment, valuation and commercial experience, including hands‑on involvement in private markets transactions and well‑established industry networks. You have a sound understanding of investment risk across capital markets and a genuine interest in whole‑of‑fund portfolio construction. Your knowledge of the energy infrastructure and energy transition sector is well developed, including familiarity with key service providers, leading participants, and the operational, governance, legal and corporate structures commonly used in infrastructure investing. You work effectively in partnership with a broad range of stakeholders, bring strong professional judgement. A postgraduate qualification or professional accreditation in a related field (such as an MBA or CFA) will be regarded as desirable.
