Job Description - Manager Legal






  • Ongoing full-time opportunity 








  • Based in Parramatta/Sydney CBD with flexible work arrangement options 








  • Clerk Grade 11/12Salary relative to experience ($154,231- $178,369) + super  






 




We are seeking a highly motivated senior lawyer to join a collaborative and high performing in house legal team.  This role offers the opportunity to contribute to projects and programs that directly impact communities who are recovering from disasters or need help preparing for future disasters.   




 




About the role 




The Manager Legal provides expert legal advice, guidance and solutions on complex operational, commercial and reputational issues, to internal stakeholders and the leadership team.  




You will provide pragmatic advice on complex and sensitive matters to support the operations of the NSW Reconstruction Authority. This includes: 




 






  • leading negotiations in complex transactional environments, including property, commercial, construction and procurement matters;  








  • drafting and reviewing documents including contracts;  








  • advising on statutory interpretation and complex environment and planning law issues;   








  • working collaboratively and flexibly with clients and other key stakeholders on a range of projects;  








  • advising on grant funding arrangements, including disaster recovery funding;  








  • assisting with disputes and litigation matters.  






 




Undertaking a wide range of tasks with often tight or competing timeframesyou will have excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, enthusiasm, and a commitment to providing high quality advice and services You will also be a strong leader who inspires, develops and supports others while fostering a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing team culture. You will be able to build trusted relationships across the organisation, and empower the legal team to deliver practical, strategic and client-focused advice in a dynamic in-house environment. 




 




Your communication and interpersonal skills are highly developed, and your strong stakeholder management skills provide you the confidence and ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with a variety of stakeholders and team members.

What we’re looking for 




To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated extensive knowledge and/or experience in one or more of the following areas: 






  • Administrative law 








  • Planning law 








  • Property law 








  • Commercial law 








  • Construction law 








  • Complex grants arrangements  








  • Structuring complex transactions 






 




Candidates must hold a current NSW legal practicing certificate. They will have extensive knowledge and experience in providing legal advice in a complex multifaceted agency or business or similar experience at a law firm. Strong candidates will have excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and an ability to deliver outcomes while working in a dynamic environment.  Five years minimum post admission experience is preferable. 




 




 




About the NSW Reconstruction Authority 




The NSW Reconstruction Authority is a statutory corporation and executive agency of the Premier’s Department, that will improve how NSW plans for disasters and ensure that we recover from them faster. 




  




To reduce the severity and impacts of disasters, the NSW Reconstruction Authority will complete critical planning and preparation with communities, businesses and government. When disaster does strike, we will get recovery started swiftly and coordinate reconstruction efforts across agencies, communities and other stakeholders.
