Division: Advisory

Department: Deals & Performance

Employment Type: Full Time Permanent

Application Closing Date: 2 July 2026

About Us
McGrathNicol is an independent professional services firm specialising in Cyber, Deals, Forensic, Performance, Restructuring, and Risk & Compliance. For more than 20 years, we have supported organisations to navigate critical moments, from growth and transformation through to financial stress and uncertainty, across the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. Guided by our values – Understanding, Commitment and Impact – we are client-focused, collaborative and committed to creating an environment where our people can do their best work and continue to grow their careers.

The Opportunity

Our Deals team advises corporates, private equity investors and founder‑led businesses on high‑stakes M&A transactions, providing independent, commercial and strategic advice at critical moments in their growth journey. As part of our continued national investment in Deals, we are seeking a Manager to join our Sydney M&A Advisory team.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high‑profile transactions across a wide range of industries, partnering closely with business owners, boards and investors to navigate challenging deal environments and unlock strategic value. You will play a key role in leading transactions end‑to‑end, contributing to origination efforts, and helping shape the continued growth of our Deals practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Play a hands‑on role in executing M&A transactions across the full lifecycle, from origination and mandate execution through due diligence, negotiation and transaction completion

  • Lead the delivery of high‑quality financial, commercial and strategic analysis to support transaction decision‑making, including market analysis, strategy papers, information memoranda, management presentations, bidder analysis, indicative pricing and other transaction materials

  • Support and progressively lead relationships with key stakeholders including shareholders, boards, investors, senior executives and advisors, ensuring clear communication and commercially focused outcomes

  • Apply strong valuation and financial modelling expertise to assess transaction opportunities, including historical and forecast analysis, DCF and comparable analysis, key value drivers, risks and potential synergies

  • Contribute to the development of junior team members and help foster a collaborative, high‑performance team culture

About You

  • Deeply motivated by advisory‑led M&A and the tangible impact it delivers for clients

  • Approximately 4–6 years’ experience in M&A advisory, investment banking, consulting or corporate development, with exposure across the full transaction lifecycle

  • Proven experience managing multiple workstreams on complex transactions and delivering insight‑led outputs for senior decision‑makers

  • Strong analytical capability combined with sound commercial judgement and strategic thinking

  • Confident engaging with senior stakeholders, with a developing ability to influence, challenge assumptions and guide outcomes

  • Naturally collaborative and driven, with a desire to take ownership, continuously improve and support others in a high‑performing team

  • Able to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail

  • Highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint, with experience producing polished, client‑ready materials

  • CA, CFA or equivalent qualification preferred

Why Join Us?

At McGrathNicol, you will be part of a high‑calibre advisory environment where performance, collaboration and impact genuinely matter. You’ll work closely with experienced Partners and Directors, gain exposure to a broad range of transactions, and be supported by structured career development and personalised mentorship.

We offer a competitive annual bonus program alongside exceptional learning opportunities, flexible work arrangements and a strong commitment to wellbeing. Our benefits include 26 weeks parental leave, additional leave options, health and wellbeing initiatives, employee assistance programs, and opportunities for social and community involvement. Most importantly, you will join a collegiate, inclusive culture that supports ambition and recognises contribution.
