Our Group Environmental Strategy team is responsible for shaping the Group's approach to nature and guiding how we identify and manage nature related risks & opportunities. Within the Group Environmental Strategy team, the Nature team works closely with Net Zero and Climate Resilience teams to translate complex insights into actionable executive recommendations.

We're seeking a team member to join our Nature team as Manager, Nature Strategy and Analytics. Our ideal candidate will have strong GIS, quantitative analysis and coding skills, with a sustainability background or environmental strategy experience. A strong understanding of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures Framework (TNFD) is preferred.

The Role:

As part of our Group Environmental Strategy team, you'll support the Senior Manager, Nature Strategy to deliver our nature priorities across the bank. Your near-term focus will include implementing a nature risk & opportunity assessment aligned to the Group Environmental Strategy and helping to embed TNFD-aligned practices across the business.

Your responsibilities:

• Lead the GIS and quantitative analysis that will underpin delivery of a nature risk and opportunity assessment, including the evaluation of nature-related datasets and development and implementation of methodologies for risk analysis.
• Help to maintain strong collaboration with key stakeholders across the Group to develop decision-useful metrics and actionable insights, and support business teams with embedding analysis into internal processes.
• Contribute to the development of the Group's capabilities on nature, by sharing knowledge and expertise on key nature-related topics, including those covered by the nature risk and opportunity assessment.
• Monitor external nature-related developments and engage, as appropriate, in external nature-related partnerships and initiatives.
• Partner with the broader Environmental Strategy team (Net Zero and Climate Resilience) on adjacencies, including data projects.

Your skills and experience:

• Exceptional data analytics skills with demonstrated experience with GIS (analysing large geospatial datasets using open-source tools preferred) quantitative analysis and coding skills (Python preferred, SQL).
• A strong background in sustainability or environmental strategy experience and familiarity with global and national nature-related frameworks (primarily the TNFD), policies and initiatives preferred.
• Ability to work autonomously to extract key business and risk insights related to the financial and societal implications of nature-related issues from complex data analysis and communicate them clearly and concisely to team leaders.
• Undergraduate qualifications in Geography, Environmental Management, Economics or other related field and/or relevant Graduate Diploma or Masters Qualification.
