About the Role

Flinders University is seeking an experienced Manager, Research Infrastructure and Collaborative Facilities (Science), internally referred to as a Collaborative Platforms Manager, to provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple collaborative research and support facilities within the College of Science and Engineering. This position drives the performance, growth, and continuous improvement of multiple specialised and technical support facilities, delivering high-quality services that support research and teaching impact, revenue generation, and user satisfaction.

You will lead technical teams across multiple facilities and manage complex operational environments. You will drive innovation in service delivery and contribute to the strategic development of new facilities to meet emerging research and teaching needs. This senior position will ensure the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and innovative services that support research impact, revenue growth, and user satisfaction.

In this position, you will:

  • Lead the strategic and operational management of multiple core research facilities, ensuring high performance, compliance, and service excellence

  • Drive facility outcomes including KPIs for revenue, research impact, user satisfaction, and operational efficiency

  • Lead and develop technical teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement

  • Oversee budgets, cost recovery, and facility development, including business cases for new capability and infrastructure

This position is open to candidates with Australian Work Rights. Relocation support is available.

About You:

You are a senior leader with extensive experience managing research or core facilities in a scientific or university environment. You bring a strong balance of strategic thinking, operational management, and people leadership. You are confident managing complex infrastructure environments and are driven by service excellence, innovation, and measurable outcomes.

You will demonstrate:

  • Proven leadership in facility management, team development, and stakeholder engagement

  • Strong financial capability including budgeting, cost recovery, and revenue generation

  • Knowledge of WHS, PC2, accreditation, and scientific facility compliance standards

  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement and data-driven reporting
