About us

Headquartered in Melbourne CBD, Hanwha Defence Australia was established in 2019 with an initial focus on Land Systems. The company has been selected as the contractor to supply Land 8116, and now Land 400 Phase 3, the latter of which is the Australian Army’s largest ever acquisition program to date.

Your new role:

This position will be lead the Manufacturing Readiness for the exciting Land 400 project at our new World Class H-ACE (Hanwha Armoured Centre of excellence) facility in Avalon. 

The successful candidate will be based within the HDA Manufacturing Engineering Department and interface across multiple internal/external stakeholders, within Australia, Korea and other countries, to deliver the optimum manufacturing footprint, plant layout and equipment / tooling for the Redback IFV.

The position will track Manufacturing Readiness Status to overall L400 Program Milestones, establishing their own sub-division of key tasks and communicating status throughout the Hanwha organisation.

This role will commence as the main liaison between the program team, engineering and facilities and will require the ability to interact and report out to all these departments.

Your primary areas of responsibilities:

  • Lead the L400 Manufacturing Mobilisation Plan cross functional review forum, ensuring clarity on status and establishing recovery plans as required to keep the project on track
  • Leverage off existing installations and concepts, establish the optimum Manufacturing footprint for production of the Redback IFV vehicle
  • Support the development of the overall manufacturing processes for Hanwha Defence Australia
  • Lead Manufacturing Technical transfer and documentation from Hanwha Aerospace Korea
  • Develop production procedures, documentation and process mapping as required
  • Specification, delivery and commissioning of machinery and equipment
  • Design fixtures and tooling for assembly tasks 
  • Create shop floor layout and cell designs using Lean Manufacturing Fundamentals 
  • Where applicable implement FMEAs, (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) or equivalent risk-based approach methodologies when implementing new designs and equipment
  • Keep up with current and developing engineering trends
  • Produce reports and presentations that support data driven decision making
  • Lead various cross functional and external stakeholder meetings with clear actions and accountabilities as an outcome
  • Support a positive, “Can do” team approach to tasks, whatever the challenge, to support the company’s long term growth and transformation plans, while delivering- short term milestones, required by our customers.
  • Work within the ERP / MRP system to develop manufacturing BOMs that drive downstream activities associated with production orders and routings.

 

About you

As an ideal candidate you will have:

  • Degree qualification in relevant field, preferred
  • Significant Experience in similar role within a Manufacturing environment
  • Experience of delivering large, complex manufacturing projects
  • Experience in Defence sector preferred but not essential
  • Leadership skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong Technical knowledge and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of production and production systems
  • Engineering knowledge of mechanical design and associated Australian design standards, relating to safety of design, design of controls.
  • Collaborative relationship with business partners
  • Writing analytical reports, if necessary, with clear outcomes and recommendations
  • Ability to introduce LEAN techniques
  • Appreciation of Industry 4.0 and digitisation in modern manufacturing
  • A strong communicator both verbally and written with excellent, computer literacy and time management skills
  • Ability to utilise and interrogate 2D and 3D CAD software packages as required
  • Working knowledge of MRP and planning requirements in production facilities
