Active Group are now recruiting for the position Mechanical Designer. 

This position is based in Cowra NSW, and will play a key role within the business to achieve mid & long-term R&D next gen product releases while providing day to day design support to various business as usual responsibilities.

The business has been experiencing sustainable stable growth over the past 5 years with strong foundations now in place to support significant production scale up.

We aim to deliver leading by design & valued agricultural products to farmers across Australia with an appetite to export in years to come. You will more than likely have spent some of your career within an agricultural or mobile equipment manufacturing business and now looking for your next career position to showcase your skills.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Research & Development activities from concept to release to market as part of the R&D team.
• Complete CAD design/drafting to meet production design changes or incorporate customer design requests
• Lead cost of goods analysis.
• Ensuring our goods on hand (raw materials/parts/components) meet our production needs to ensure on time delivery for sold products and there is sound financial reasoning to the total value of the goods we hold on-hand
• Being prepared to roll up your sleeves and work as part of a small team to ensure we kick our goals out of the park!

To be considered for this role you will ideally:

• Have experience within an agricultural manufacturing operation, underpinned by formal engineering or design qualifications. Suitable transferable skills and qualifications will be considered for the right applicant
• Demonstrated experience achieving your key deliverables. The numbers do not lie – drive out waste, improve GP, increase productivity output & business scale
• Have CAD design understanding and/or hands on skills to support your team
• Have refined people management skills to be able to consult with internal & external stakeholders
• Hold a genuine interest to learn the history of the family-owned business, the sales process & production workflow to ensure you have a complete understanding of our achievements to date
• Have an ability to work under pressure and resilient to juggle competing priorities

• Be a disciplined individual who has a ‘can do’ solutions-based business approach
• Have exceptional business acumen and an out of the box, blue sky thinker by nature
