Responsibilities
- Become familiar with basic PFD and P&ID symbology, layout, and standards
- Learn to read and understand basic P&ID’s along with the different stages of development
- Learn to check basic P&ID’s modifications against CAD drafting standards and client standards
- Learn to develop demolition P&ID's based on project P&ID's, and assist in P&ID walk-down efforts or field verification
- Learn to develop/use heat and material balances, maintain a drawing list, develop an equipment list, develop a simple Line list with process data and recognize specialty items and develop a specialty items list
- Become familiar with and learn to read piping isometric drawings and a plot plan
- Learn the basics of performing hydraulic calculations for compressible and incompressible fluids
- Learn the basics of pressure relief devices, types, sizing calculations, scenario development, and specifications and become familiar with thermodynamic properties of utility systems
- Learn how to develop estimation packages and develop simple equipment data sheets
- Assist in design and preparation of engineering documentation for clients and assist in preparation of equipment specifications for equipment purchase
- Become familiar with design codes, industry and client standards and established design criteria
- Become familiar with of instrumentation including typical instrumentation types and their principles of operation
- Learn to perform and document simple mechanical calculations so they can be easily checked
- Become familiar with project budgets, schedules, typical project deliverables, and work scopes
- Learn to recognize out of scope work on projects, develop engineering judgment and keep management properly informed on project issues
- Learn the requirements of collecting and maintaining process effort supporting documentation for calculations and project decisions made by the mechanical engineer
- Develop technical expertise in Mechanical Engineering discipline from department peers and supervisors
- Assist in verifying field conditions, constructability of designs, site surveys and resolving problems during field construction
- Assist with analysis, design, production of detailed construction drawings for clients, and prepare mechanical scope of works
- All other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 0-3 Years of experience working as a Mechanical Engineer
- EIT license preferred
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) license preferred and on track to obtaining a Professional License (PE) preferred
- Must possess exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
- Must be able to work in the US now and in the future without sponsorship
