Everyone knows the sequel is always better—and that's exactly why Alstom is raising the bar with X'Trapolis 2.0. As we enter an exciting retrofit and ramp-up phase, we're growing our team and have multiple Mechanical Fitter and Electrician opportunities available at our Newport facility.


If you enjoy hands-on work, taking things apart, putting them back together better, and being part of a team that keeps Melbourne moving, this is your opportunity to work on one of Victoria's most significant rolling stock projects.


Working a 36-hour week on Day Shift (Monday to Thursday), you'll enjoy a long weekend every week while being part of a skilled and supportive team delivering critical retrofit works on the X'Trapolis fleet.


 


We'll look to you for


 


Mechanical Fitter:



  • Interpret retrofit drawings, work packs, and technical documentation to complete train modification and upgrade works.

  • Remove, refurbish, modify, and install mechanical components and systems as part of rolling stock retrofit programs.

  • Use hand tools, power tools, lifting equipment, and maintenance tools to safely remove and re-install components.

  • Perform component fitment, alignment, adjustment, and reassembly in accordance with engineering and quality requirements.

  • Support fault finding, testing, commissioning, and validation of retrofit installations.

  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, production, and commissioning teams to deliver retrofit activities safely and efficiently.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, and productivity.

  • Complete quality documentation, self-inspections, and defect reporting to meet project and rail industry standards.



Electrician:

All about you

  • Trade Qualified in either Mechanical Or Electrical (Cert III in Engineering - Mechanical OR Cert III in Electrotechnology / A Grade Electrical License.

  • Experience within the manufacturing environment would be advantageous.

  • Ability to be able to interpret technical diagrams & drawings.
