Position: Electrical/Mechanical Fitter

About the Role:
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical/Mechanical Fitter to join our client's dynamic team based in Smithfield. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to apply their expertise in the repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical components, particularly in the field of rotating equipment.

Key Duties:

• Inspect and assess small steam turbines to determine necessary repairs.
• Disassemble turbines and specialized electric motors for overhauling.
• Perform repair, re-blading, and overhaul of turbines; comprehensive training will be provided.
• Overhaul various electric motors and perform dynamic balancing of rotating equipment; training provided.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulically driven generators and electromagnets; training for specific tasks will be offered.
• Conduct machining tasks related to repair and overhaul processes.
• Undertake occasional on-site work within the Sydney metro area.

Pre-requisites:

• Mechanical Trade qualification or certification as an Electrical Fitter/Mechanic.
• Demonstrable experience in mechanical assembly and with rotating equipment.
• Skills in welding and basic fabrication are highly regarded.
• Familiarity with basic machining operations (e.g., using a lathe).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with a proactive approach to problem-solving and safety.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must be a permanent resident or citizen of Australia.
