About this role

Sydney Water have partnered with Delivering 4 Customers (D4C) to deliver; design, construct, maintenance and facilities management services as part of the P4S program in Sydney Water's Southern Region of Sydney.

D4C is a consortium comprising of John Holland, Service Stream and WSP. We will provide long term employment opportunities to diversify the skills of the people of the southern region of Sydney as well as creating pathways to enter the water industry.

D4C is seeking a Construction Supervisor to join their expanding team to deliver excellence in numerous program of works across the Southern Region.

What this role will entail? 

This role will be an integral part of the project team owning the outcome for construction delivery of their projects. This role will focus on undertaking various projects including the upgrade of mechanical, electrical, civil and process related assets on existing brownfield operating Wastewater Treatment Plants.

The role location is flexible as it will be supporting plants at Cronulla, Wollongong, Shellharbour, Bellambi and Port Kembla. The work includes but is not limited to inlet works, PST renewals, dewatering upgrades, ventilation, odour control, clarifier refurbishment, and Cogen upgrades.

As a Construction Supervisor, you'll be leading a program of works and joining at the start of a 6-year project. Your day-to-day tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate the work and performance of multiple teams and subcontractors to achieve outcomes.  
  • Provide and take leadership responsibility in health, safety and environment management.  
  • Contribute to development of work methods and rolling short term construction programs and plan daily/weekly production work.  
  • Build strong internal and external stakeholder management through positive, proactive and professional communication to keep key personnel informed.  
  • Complete progress reporting, and activities, reports for shift handovers and consistent regular reporting to the Construction Lead.  
  • Ensure compliance of commercial and financial costs including budgets and the implications of directions within your authority limits  
  • Read and understand plans, review design documentation, read drawings, and provide constructive review and implementing of final designs  
  • Identify and mitigate risks prior to works commencing, communicate with and engage relevant stakeholders to control risk and contribute to building a risk management culture.  
  • Select, train and develop workers and ensure the observance of safety, other work standards and fair and reasonable application of industrial agreements.  
  • Planning and procurement of appropriate resources to fulfil project requirements.   
  • Manage access and movement of materials, plant and equipment to and within the site and work area in a safe and cost-efficient manner.  
  • Provide positive leadership to ensure the quality and standard of workmanship performed is in accordance with the specifications and drawings.  
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Hold and Witness Points.
  • Maintain diary records of actual progress including issues and usage.  
  • Maintain effective consultation with various stakeholders referring major issues to the Construction Lead.  
  • Perform all duties in accordance with D4C and Sydney Water policies, processes, systems and procedures 

Essential Requirements: 

  • Trade Qualification or similar
  • Minium of 5 years experience as a supervisor
  • Substantial water industry experience (preferably in brownfield construction)
  • Technical competency and understanding in area of expertise
  • People and Performance Management of subcontractors, suppliers and direct labour
  • Demonstrated leadership in health, safety and environmental management
  • Current Drivers licence
  • White card
