Job Description - Medical Billing Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Billing Manager to lead our medical billing operations and revenue cycle management processes. The successful candidate will oversee billing staff, ensure accurate and timely submission of medical claims, manage accounts receivable, and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and payer requirements. This is a leadership role requiring deep knowledge of medical billing processes and strong team management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the daily operations of the medical billing department.

  • Oversee accurate and timely submission of insurance claims and patient invoices.

  • Monitor accounts receivable and implement strategies to reduce claim denials and payment delays.

  • Resolve complex billing issues, denied claims, and appeals with insurance companies.

  • Ensure compliance with healthcare laws, coding standards (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS), and payer requirements.

  • Prepare and analyze regular billing and collection reports for management.

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.

  • Coordinate with physicians, medical coders, and administrative staff to ensure accurate documentation and coding.

  • Train, mentor, and evaluate billing team members; manage schedules and performance reviews.

  • Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries and payment plans when necessary.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, insurance changes, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Minimum 35 years of experience in medical billing, with at least 12 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

  • Strong knowledge of medical billing procedures, insurance guidelines, coding standards, and revenue cycle management.

  • Proficiency with medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Certification in Medical Billing and Coding (e.g., CPC, CPB) is a plus.
