Summary



We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Medical Oncologist to join our leading healthcare institution in a full-time consultant role. This position is central to advancing patient care, clinical excellence, and innovation in oncology services. As a Medical Oncologist, you will play a pivotal role in diagnosing, managing, and treating complex cancer cases across a diverse patient population. You will lead multidisciplinary tumor boards, contribute to clinical research initiatives, and mentor junior medical staff and trainees. This is a senior-level, consultant-grade position that demands expertise in medical oncology, a commitment to evidence-based practice, and a passion for improving patient outcomes through compassionate, cutting-edge care. Responsibilities




  • Lead the clinical management of adult patients with a broad spectrum of malignant diseases, including solid tumors and hematologic malignancies.

  • Participate in and chair multidisciplinary tumor boards to develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.

  • Deliver comprehensive care including chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and supportive care strategies.

  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical protocols and treatment guidelines.

  • Engage in clinical research, including participation in phase I–IV trials, data collection, and publication of outcomes.

  • Mentor and supervise junior medical staff, registrars, and medical students in clinical and academic settings.

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date medical records and ensure compliance with regulatory and institutional standards.

  • Collaborate with allied health professionals, including radiation oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, and palliative care specialists.

  • Represent the department at institutional and external professional forums, contributing to quality improvement and policy development.

  • Stay current with emerging therapies, guidelines, and innovations in oncology through continuous professional development.







Requirements



Requirements:




  • Fellowship or equivalent qualification in Medical Oncology from a recognized medical college or board (e.g., Royal Australasian College of Physicians – RACP, substantially comparable RACP assessment).

  • Current specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia and eligibility for specialist registration in ${State}.

  • Demonstrated experience in clinical medical oncology, including management of complex cancer cases in a tertiary or academic hospital setting.

  • Proven track record in multidisciplinary team leadership and participation in clinical trials.

  • Strong communication, teaching, and leadership skills with experience in supervising trainees and medical staff.

  • Commitment to patient-centered care, ethical practice, and continuous quality improvement.

  • Proficiency in electronic medical records systems and clinical data management.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a high-pressure, fast-paced clinical environment.

  • Willingness to engage in academic activities, including research, publications, and conference presentations.


Essential



  1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.


  2. Current Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or eligibility for Fellowship.


  3. Sound clinical knowledge in assessment and management of patients and a commitment to provide appropriate high quality service.


  4. An interest in and a commitment to improving Indigenous health.
