Job Description - Merchandise Manager

Role: Merchandising Grocery Manager ​

The Khan’s IGA Supermarket Group is looking for an experienced Merchandise Grocery Manager to be located at our support office in Picton NSW.

Working with our key stake holders, our buyers contribute to building and strengthening our brand for our customer base in multiple sites across NSW. As a Merchandising Grocery Manager, you will be responsible for managing the general merchandise department, ensuring maximum sales, profit, and customer satisfaction through effective merchandising, pricing, and inventory control. ​

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain adequate stock levels, supervise inventory, and ensure shelves are continually replenished. ​
  • Marketing: Merchandise weekly advertising and promotions, implement local marketing programs, and review customer inputs. ​
  • Prepare and monitor the department budget. Coordinate with account and finance teams for invoices and departmental reports.
  • Ensure high-quality service delivery, teamwork, and proper training for all general merchandise department employees. ​
  • Ensure compliance with processes that remain efficient, effective and streamlined.
  • Management: Delegate responsibilities effectively, lead by example, and conduct weekly management review meetings with Store managers and Directors. ​
  • Provide timely and concise reports to the store manager on relevant matters. ​
  • Maintain a shrinkage strategy and oversee its implementation, which includes communication, education, monitoring, review, and support.
  • Other: Perform additional duties as requested by the Managing Director. ​​

Requirements:

  • Management experience in a similar role, preferably in the grocery retail industry. ​
  • Strong customer service focus and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. ​
  • Experience in leading and developing a team, including recruitment and training. ​
  • Strong interpersonal skills and can communicate with influence to a diverse team. ​
  • Proficiency in IT and ability to analyse financial data.
  • Knowledge of cost management, sales budgets, and building relationships with suppliers. ​
  • Awareness and compliance with relevant legislation, such as WH&S and environmental regulations. ​

Khans Supermarket Group, a family-operated independent business, manages 10 IGA retail locations throughout New South Wales. The available role is stationed at our support office in Picton, NSW.
