Microbiologist - Food Testing

In 2018 Eurofins Food Testing Australia Pty Ltd was founded in Melbourne to offer a comprehensive range of analytical methods to the Australian Food industry, for Food, Beverage, Dairy and Feed, in microbiology, nutritional chemistry, vitamins and contaminants, out of a purpose-built 8,000 m2 state-of-the-art facility.

• Full Time position - Microbiologist 
• Morning Shift - Weekdays (11am - 7pm)

We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong background in:

• Commercial food lab environments

• Microbiological confirmations and identifications

• PCR / Maldi TOF analysis and molecular methods

• Accurate reporting and data interpretation.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-compliance setting. 

• Maintain a strong understanding of Eurofins’ quality management system and actively support compliance with laboratory quality standards and ongoing NATA accreditation requirements.

• Support the efficient laboratory operation by performing additional tasks as needed to meet output targets and budget requirements.

• Contribute to the training and development of staff in microbiological services.

• Carry out other duties as directed by the Laboratory Team Leader.

• Tertiary qualifications in Microbiology or equivalent qualification; or equivalent Microbiology experience.
• At least 3-5 years’ experience in NATA accredited commercial laboratory.
• Experience in PCR/results reading & confirmation. NATA signatory will be added advantage.
• Experience in using different equipment/instrumental and sample preparation techniques.
• Technical knowledge in the relevant scientific discipline.
• Good knowledge of standard office applications, especially MS Word and MS Excel.
• Experienced using LIMS system.
