DescriptionWe are seeking an experience Mine Surveyor to provide accurate, timely, and safe surveying services to support mining operations at CSA. The role focuses on operational survey delivery, data capture, and compliance support.
Roster:
This role will be based onsite in Cobar, NSW working an 8/6 days FIFO roster from Brisbane or Sydney with local candidates highly regarded.
ResponsibilitiesKey responsibilities include:
Operational Surveying
- Complete underground and surface surveys for development, production, projects, and infrastructure.
- Set out development lines, drill patterns, and infrastructure locations in accordance with engineering designs.
- Maintain and verify survey control networks to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Conduct scans, cavity monitoring, and other specialised pickups as required.
Data Processing & Plan Updating
- Process survey data and update mine plans, strings and 3D models in line with site standards
- Maintain accurate digital records of all survey pickups and associated metadata
- Produce drawings, plans and spatial information for operational teams, engineering and geology
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Support the Senior Mine Surveyor and Statuory Surveyor in meeting statutory requirements under WHS (Mine & Petroleum Sites) legislation
- Perform routine compliance checks including excavation conformance, void vaildation, and survey control audits
- Identify and report any discrepancies, hazards or non-compliance issues promptly
Operational Support & Communication
- Provide survey support to production, development, and project teams to ensure work is executed to design.
- Attend operational planning meetings when required to clarify survey priorities and constraints.
- Timely communication of survey requirements, limitations, and outcomes clearly to supervisors and technical teams.
Equipment & Technology
- Operate and maintain survey instruments including total stations, scanners, tablets, and associated software.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and coordinate equipment repairs or calibrations through the Senior Mine Surveyor.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of survey workflows, technology use, and data quality.
QualificationsWhat we are looking for
- Tertiary qualification in Mine Surveying, Spatial Science, or related discipline.
- Manual drivers licence
- Expereince in underground hard-rock mining preferred but not essential
- Competence with survey instrumentation and mine survey software (Deswick, Maptek, Leica)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
- Ability to work safely and independently in an underground environment
