Genesis Minerals is seeking a motivated Mining Engineer – Paste & Backfill to join our Technical Services team at the iconic Gwalia underground operation. This is an excellent opportunity to play a critical role in supporting safe, efficient and sustainable mining through the design, planning and optimisation of paste and backfill systems.

Working within a collaborative and high-performing environment, you will contribute directly to production outcomes while helping drive continuous improvement across backfill processes and underground mining activities.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination and performance monitoring of paste and backfill operations to ensure alignment with the mine plan and production schedules.

Key responsibilities include:

• Develop and maintain paste and backfill schedules to support safe extraction sequences

• Monitor backfill performance and identify opportunities for optimisation

• Coordinate closely with underground operations, geotechnical and technical services teams

• Ensure fill plans comply with design parameters and safety requirements

• Analyse performance data and provide timely technical recommendations

• Support continuous improvement initiatives across backfill systems and practices

• Assist with short to medium-term planning activities as required

About You

You are a proactive and technically capable mining engineer who enjoys working closely with operations and solving practical challenges underground.

To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering

• Underground mining experience (paste/backfill exposure highly regarded)

• Strong planning and analytical capability

• Experience with mine planning software such as Deswik (or similar)

• Solid understanding of underground mining methods and safety requirements

• Well-developed communication skills with the ability to engage across multiple teams
