Mt Owen/Glendell Operations (MGO) is an open cut mining operation which utilises truck and excavator mining methods to produce thermal and semi-soft coking coal, which is predominantly exported for power generation and use in steel production. We are located within the Hunter Coalfields at Hebden in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales.

An opportunity exists for an experienced and committed Mining Superintendent - Pit Services at MGO. Reporting to the Mining Manager this position is Monday to Friday, dayshift only and is accountable for leading MGO’s high performing work teams (including Supervisors, Employees and Contractors).

Your ability to drive for results, effectively communicate and lead a team is paramount. This position requires multitasking and the following of all policies and procedures implemented and maintained in accordance with the Glencore Management Framework.

The requirements for success in this role include:

• Previous experience in operational leadership roles that will enable you to confidently liaise and influence a diverse range employees and senior leaders within the business.

• Proven experience managing key operational activities including water pumping, haul road material crushing, and the planning and execution of ancillary equipment and support services.

• Strong contract management experience, including contractor performance, cost and compliance oversight.

• Mining Superintendent or Supervisor experience specifically in:

  • Pit Services and/or

  • Production

• Current NSW Open Cut Examiners Practising Certificate (mandatory).

• Current Mining Engineering Manager Practicing Certificate (desirable).

• Computer literacy is key to enable you to have the ability to measure, record and analyse reporting on safety, people and productivity activities to consistently exceed plan and improve performance.
