The opportunity: Council is recruiting to fill our Multi-Skilled Plant Operator & Labourer vacancy in our Bendemere (Yuleba & Surrounds) operating area. About you: You will excel as a valued team member, demonstrating your capacity to collaborate within a high-achieving team committed to safety and excellence in work practices. Key responsibilities: Road Construction and Maintenance Undertake grader operations to construct and maintain Bendemere’s road network including:         o Operations with and without lasers         o Final trim operations, as required Ensure trim pegs are to the appropriate standard and in accordance with established procedures and requirements. Remove and reinstate guides and roadside furniture. Clean and make good table drains, free of debris and regrowth. Plant Operation Safely operate and maintain Council’s plant and equipment as per the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications and Council’s policies and procedures. Undertake daily servicing and maintenance for plant, equipment and machinery to ensure optimal capacity and efficiency levels and to avoid unscheduled operational downtime. Maintain Road construction/maintenance documentation and plant records as per Council’s Integrated Maranoa Management System (IMMS) and plant management policies and procedures. Provide skilled plant operation to assist with maintenance requirements such as repairs, renewals and upgrades. Operate a variety of handheld tools and machinery as required. Labour Support Undertake general labour duties and participate in multi-skilled team tasks as required. Perform work site preparation and clean up. Contribute to the setup of traffic control signage as per Council’s traffic control plans. Interdepartmental Support Complete tasks required to ensure Council’s Service Level Agreements (SLA) is met between other Departments and Directorates within Council. About working with Council: Yuleba, Qld Full time, permanent position - 38 hours per week Fortnightly Rostered Days Off 5 weeks annual leave 15 days personal leave Employee Assistance Program & Social Club Salary sacrifice facilities (i.e., rural remote rent assistance, novated leasing, additional super contributions) Professional development opportunities About you: To be successful you will need to demonstrate that you meet the below mandatory requirements for the role: C (Car) Class Driver Licence Maranoa Regional Council Verification of Skill Level to Competently Operate Plant (e.g. grader)(In-house assessment) General Construction Induction (White) Card Although not mandatory, the below qualifications and licences are considered beneficial to the role: HC (Heavy Combination) Class Driver Licence Final Trim Grader Experience Certificate III in Civil Construction – Road Construction and Maintenance (or equivalent) RIIWHS302D – Implement Traffic Management Plan Required Skills and Experience: Ability to perform manual handling and labouring duties for extended periods in direct sunlight, working in difficult terrain, walking on uneven ground, prolonged sitting whilst operating plant / machinery hand and foot controls. Ability to safely operate a variety of mobile plant and equipment within a construction/maintenance environment. Demonstrated ability to construct and maintain Council’s sealed and unsealed roads and other assets to agreed service level standards and design specifications. Ability to follow direction and complete tasks within allocated timeframes to required standards. Demonstrated ability to work productively both within a team environment and unsupervised. Ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to Maranoa Regional Council’s values and team goals. Previous experience working in local government, construction/maintenance or similar environment will be highly regarded but is not essential. This role will require reference checks, medical assessment including drug and alcohol screen, driver's licence check and criminal history check.
