About the role
As a Municipal Laws Officer, you will provide quality information, assistance, and advice to the public regarding municipal law enforcement. This role involves responding to complaints, conducting investigations, and taking enforcement actions to ensure compliance with relevant Acts, Regulations, and Local Laws.

• Public Assistance: Provide quality information, assistance, and advice to the public relating to municipal law enforcement.
• Complaint Response: Ensure complaints are acted upon and responded to promptly and courteously. Prepare relevant correspondence, investigate complaints, and take necessary actions to rectify identified breaches.
• Proactive Compliance: Conduct daily patrols to identify and address compliance issues. Provide advice and education to the public to ensure adherence to legislation and local laws.
• Enforcement Actions: Utilise investigative tools, issue Notices to Comply and Infringement notices for breaches of Acts, Regulations, and Local Laws.
• Regulation Awareness: Stay updated on changes to relevant Acts and Regulations and report any impacts on the role.
• Legal Proceedings: Prepare evidence and reports for prosecution matters, attend court, and give evidence as necessary.
• Fire Season Support: Assist the MFPO during fire season with fire notices, inspections, and issuing fines for breaches of the Act.
• Flexible Hours: Perform some duties outside of normal hours with appropriate overtime allowances.
• Other Duties: Perform other duties as directed and within your skills and knowledge.

About you

• Certificate IV in Municipal Law Enforcement or equivalent and/or relevant experience in a Municipal Laws environment.
• Proven ability to conduct investigations, take appropriate enforcement actions, conduct interviews, and prepare briefs of evidence for court.
• Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to interact effectively with a broad range of community members.
• Ability to manage conflict and stressful situations effectively.
• Current unrestricted Victorian Driver's License.
• Experience with Authority and Council's CRM System is desirable.
• Able to pass National Police Check
• Must have FULL WORKING RIGHTS in Australia
