The Firm

This boutique has built a strong reputation acting for insurers and self-insurers across workers compensation, statutory claims, and work injury damages. The client base includes major Australian corporates and specialist insurers. The firm operates without time recording, and performance is assessed on the quality and output of work rather than hours logged.

The Role

Working closely with a Partner, you will manage an active portfolio of workers compensation and work injury damages matters from instruction through to resolution. You will provide clear, commercially grounded advice to insurer and self-insurer clients, with direct client contact by phone, email, and periodic face-to-face meetings. At Senior Associate level, you will take a lead role on selected matters.

Responsibilities

• Manage and progress a portfolio of workers compensation and work injury damages matters independently.


• Draft concise, technically sound advice from an insurer and self-insurer perspective.


• Maintain direct client relationships and attend periodic client meetings.


• Instruct and coordinate with counsel at the Personal Injury Commission where required.


• At Senior Associate level, take carriage of selected matters and contribute to the development of junior practitioners.

Candidate Profile

• 2 to 4 years post-qualification experience in NSW workers compensation law.


• Defendant or plaintiff side backgrounds considered.


• Technically strong drafter with the ability to produce clear, commercially useful advice.


• Personal Injury Commission experience, including instructing counsel, is advantageous.


• Self-directed and capable of managing a caseload without a billable hours framework.
