Chief Financial Officer – Development

Professional Search Group (PSG) is exclusively partnering with Verso Projects to appoint a Chief Financial Officer for its development business.

This newly created position offers an experienced property finance executive the opportunity to influence key business decisions, how they are funded and how returns are managed across the development lifecycle.

The opportunity

Verso is a Brisbane-based private property group with development, construction and sales capability. Its development portfolio spans residential projects, mixed-use precincts and longer-term retail and community assets.

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the ownership group, the CFO will bring together development finance, capital strategy, treasury and financial governance. You will provide clear commercial advice on acquisitions, project feasibility, funding structures and capital allocation, while building the team, systems and reporting needed to support continued growth.

The role sits within the development arm, with a strong focus on investment performance, liquidity and the developer’s financial exposure throughout project delivery.

Your mandate

Combining strategic influence with hands-on leadership, you will:

• Lead capital planning, debt and equity funding, and relationships with lenders, investors and joint venture partners.


• Challenge acquisition and development feasibilities, assess investment returns and advise on project staging and capital allocation.


• Oversee portfolio cash flow, funding facilities, covenants, refinancing and distributions.


• Maintain clear visibility of project budgets, committed costs, contingencies and cost-to-complete forecasts.


• Strengthen financial reporting, controls and governance across development, project and investment entities.


• Develop the finance team and improve systems, data quality and commercial decision support.


• Lead practical AI and automation initiatives that improve forecasting, analysis and reporting.

As the business’s strategy evolves, you may also support the assessment of funds management opportunities and investment structures, working with specialist advisers.

About you

You are a commercially minded executive finance leader with substantial experience in property development or property investment. You understand how project decisions affect funding requirements, liquidity and returns, and can translate complex analysis into clear recommendations.

You will bring:

• CA, CPA or an equivalent recognised accounting qualification.


• Strong expertise in development feasibilities, project finance, debt and equity structures, and investment analysis.


• Experience managing lender and capital partner relationships and contributing to funding negotiations.


• Financial control, treasury and governance capability across multiple entities.


• A track record of building finance teams and improving systems and processes.


• The judgement and curiosity to evaluate and lead practical AI and automation adoption.

Exposure to funds management, investor reporting or regulated investment structures are essential.

Above all, you will be comfortable working with entrepreneurial owners, challenging assumptions constructively and moving confidently between strategic decisions and financial detail.
