Director – Grid Connections & Power Systems | Australia

We're working with a grid connections and power systems advisory firm that has built its entire reputation around one discipline. Rather than spreading across broader energy consulting services, this business has stayed deliberately focused on grid connection and power systems work, and that focus shows in the depth of their client relationships and the calibre of projects they're trusted with across the Australian renewable sector. The business itself is established and performing well, with a strong existing team and a genuine track record behind it. What's missing now is someone to step into a leadership position, take ownership of a business unit and put their own stamp on how it grows from here.

What you will be doing:

• Taking ownership of a business unit within the firm, with genuine autonomy to build and shape it


• Leading delivery across the full grid connection lifecycle, from pre-feasibility and connection strategy through to GPS negotiation, registration, hold point testing and ongoing compliance


• Acting as the technical figurehead on your projects, the person clients and NSPs deal with directly


• Mentoring and developing a team you get to build out under you, not inherit as-is


• Staying genuinely hands-on. This isn't a role where you step back into pure oversight. You're expected to still do the work, not just review it


• Working across NEM connections, spanning generation, hybrid and storage projects, for developers, OEMs, network businesses and regulators

What they are looking for:

• A strong, demonstrable track record in grid connections and power systems, ideally including GPS development and negotiation, connection applications, registration and compliance


• Someone who can hit the ground running with minimal ramp-up, not someone growing into the seniority of the role


• Comfortable owning outcomes end to end, from strategy through to delivery, without needing a large support structure around you from day one


• Leadership instinct, someone who wants to mentor and build a team, not just manage one that already exists


• No appetite required for business development. This role is about delivery and leadership, not chasing new clients
