The opportunity

My client is a leading global infrastructure investor with a long-term approach and a portfolio spanning transport, energy, utilities and digital infrastructure. They’ve recently launched a new value-add strategy, targeting businesses where active ownership, operational improvement and growth investment can unlock returns beyond those of core infrastructure.

The team is small and growing, and works across opportunities in Australia, Europe, North America and Asia. They’re adding an Analyst who wants genuine deal exposure early in their buy-side career, and who will be trusted with real responsibility from day one.

What you’ll do

• Screen and evaluate new investment opportunities, building an early view on the business, sector and risks


• Build and maintain detailed financial models, including valuation, returns analysis and financing structures


• Support due diligence, working with external advisers across commercial, technical, legal and financial workstreams


• Prepare investment committee papers that set out the investment case, key risks and outputs clearly


• Assist with transaction execution through to close, including bid processes and financing


• Support portfolio companies after acquisition, tracking performance and contributing to value creation plans


• Research sector and market themes to help shape where the strategy looks next

What they’re looking for

• Around 18 to 36 months’ experience in investment banking (infrastructure, industrials or M&A), on the buy side, or in corporate finance with genuine transaction exposure


• Strong financial modelling skills built from first principles, ideally including project finance


• The ability to turn analysis into a clear investment view and communicate it with confidence


• Sharp attention to detail and comfort working to tight deal timelines


• Genuine curiosity about infrastructure and how businesses create value over the long term


• A relevant degree in finance, commerce, economics, engineering or similar, with CA or CFA progress viewed favourably


• Based in Melbourne, or ready to relocate


• Full Australian working rights (sponsorship is not available)
