Job Description
QA/QC Coordinator | HV Infrastructure
Overview
Are you ready to play a hands-on role in delivering quality on a flagship energy infrastructure project? We are seeking a motivated QA/QC Coordinator to support quality management on a major grid-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Western Victoria. Working alongside the project QA Manager, you will help put the quality system into practice across a 2.5-year build covering both the battery installation and associated substation works.
If you enjoy being out on site, keeping records tight, and making sure work is done right the first time, this role offers a great opportunity to grow your career on a critical energy transition project.
About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established contractor specialising in high voltage infrastructure across Australia. With a strong reputation for delivering complex projects, they have secured a major BESS project that will play a key role in Victoria’s energy transition.
This role offers the opportunity to:
- Be part of the quality team from the early stages of a high-profile project.
- Work closely with an experienced QA Manager and build your expertise in HV quality.
- Gain exposure to both cutting-edge battery technology and HV substation works.
- Contribute to infrastructure that supports Australia’s renewable energy goals.
Responsibilities
As the QA/QC Coordinator, you will:
- Support the implementation of the project Quality Management System, including the Project Quality Plan, procedures, and document control processes.
- Coordinate and track Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for electrical, HV, and civil works, making sure hold and witness points are met and signed off.
- Carry out site inspections and surveillance across the substation scope (primary and secondary electrical works) and the battery installation.
- Raise, track, and close out non-conformances and corrective actions, working with site teams to resolve issues quickly.
- Review subcontractor and supplier quality records to confirm they meet project requirements.
- Maintain quality registers, test records, material certificates, and calibration records.
- Work with construction, engineering, and commissioning teams so quality supports delivery rather than slowing it down.
- Assist with compiling quality records and handover documentation for the client and asset owner.
- Support internal audits and prepare quality reporting for the QA Manager and project leadership.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- QA/QC experience on high voltage or electrical construction projects, such as substations, transmission, grid connections, or renewables.
- Hands-on experience working with ITPs, inspection records, and non-conformance processes.
- A solid understanding of electrical quality requirements, with some exposure to civil works (e.g. foundations, earthworks, structures).
- Strong attention to detail and well-organised record keeping.
- Good communication skills and the confidence to work with subcontractors and site teams.
- Comfort working on site, with familiarity with ISO 9001 and relevant Australian Standards.
Desirable but not essential:
- Experience on BESS projects.
- A trade background (e.g. electrical) or relevant engineering qualification.
- Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor certification.
If you have solid HV or electrical QA/QC experience but don’t tick every box, we still encourage you to apply.
Day-to-Day
Your typical day will involve:
- Getting out on site to inspect work against ITPs and quality standards.
- Coordinating hold and witness points with site teams, subcontractors, and the client.
- Updating quality registers and keeping documentation accurate and current.
- Logging non-conformances and following them through to close-out.
- Checking subcontractor and supplier records as work progresses.
- Supporting the QA Manager with reporting, audits, and handover records.
Benefits
- Career Growth: Learn from an experienced QA Manager and build your HV quality expertise on a major project.
- Job Security: 2.5 years of meaningful work on a project critical to Victoria’s energy transition.
- Reputable Contractor: Join a company known for its expertise in high voltage infrastructure and commitment to quality.
- Broad Exposure: Gain experience across both BESS and HV substation works in one project.
If you take pride in getting the details right and want to be part of delivering Australia’s renewable energy future, we want to hear from you. Apply today to join a team that values excellence and innovation.
