Job Description - Occupational Therapist

We are currently seeking another passionate and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our every growing Allied health team. Naturally you will be dedicated to providing therapeutic services to promote our elderly client's independence and well-being to enable them to remain living in their own homes within Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.

A little more about the role…

 Work with a close knit supportive allied health team, providing in-home OT services.

  • Assess our Home Care Package clients with a wide range of acute and chronic health conditions and implement effective evidence-based interventions using sound clinical judgement, in the client's home.
  • Work in conjunction with the Case Manager to develop therapeutic services that support healthy ageing and improve our client's health and well-being.
  • Access to ongoing education and mentoring 
  • Effectively communicate with clients and their families, our staff members and other health professionals, with regards to the provision of services.
  • Balance competing priorities of individuals' expectations against resource levels.

About you…

  • Relevant tertiary education in Occupational Therapy and current full registration with AHPRA.
  • A demonstrated knowledge of chronic disease management approaches and commitment to, and enthusiasm for, working with the clients, families, carers and advocates.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting home assessments and prescribing minor modifications and equipment/aids.
  • Demonstrated experience in falls and pressure prevention/management.
  • Ability to develop and provide individualised, client focused care in conjunction to their needs, goals and preferences.
  • Capacity to keep detailed treatment records to enable review of clinical activity and ongoing consumer care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of local and international wellness and re-enablement models of care
  • Ability to develop relationships with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Excellent customer service skills with proven, effective communication/problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a community setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
  • An understanding and willingness to work with billable targets.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Current Full Australian Driver’s License and access to a reliable registered and comprehensively insured vehicle or an option to use a pool vehicle.
