Job Description - Operations Manager

About the role

The Operations Manager position is a crucial leadership role overseeing the delivery of high-quality person-centred care and outcomes for Sunrise consumers. The successful incumbent will lead and coordinate all aspects of consumer services, ensuring quality care that respects diversity, promotes reablement, and balances risk with choice. As a key member of the Leadership Team, the Operations Manager will collaborate across all levels of management to drive organisational strategy, support the Managing Director’s change agenda, and contribute to building a sustainable and thriving organisation.

Key responsibilities 

  • Ensure quality consumer-centric care prioritising the safety, wellbeing, and quality of life for all consumers through tailored, respectful, and trauma-informed care practices.
  • Develop systems to prevent abuse, neglect, and exploitation, fostering trust and strong relationships with consumers and their advocates.
  • Mentor, educate, and review staff performance to ensure the delivery of high-quality services aligned with current legislation.
  • Ensure all service delivery meets contractual, compliance, and aged care standards, conducting self-assessment audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of organisational policies, procedures, and business plans while collaborating with leadership and service delivery teams.
  • Monitor Home Care Package budgets, review care plans, and provide solutions for managing unspent funds effectively.
  • Liaise with healthcare professionals, community organisations, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination of consumer care.
  • Maintain accurate records, data, and reporting systems, ensuring accountability and compliance with service standards.
  • Support recruitment, orientation, and performance management processes, fostering professional growth and a safe working environment.
  • Act as a positive representative of the organisation, building strong relationships with stakeholders and contributing to marketing and fundraising strategies.

Qualifications and experience required 

  • Significant experience in a similar operations management role within the Aged/ Disability Support sector
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team, with strong people management skills
  • Advanced communication and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Thorough understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and industry best practices
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, such as Aged Care, Disability Services, or Business Management.
