Operations Manager

The Company
This is a leading Australian and privately owned manufacturer and supplier of products essential to the building and construction industry. Technologically at the forefront in systems and processes, they are agile and entrepreneurial in their approach. They deliver high quality construction solutions to both Government and Constructors in large civil infrastructure, commercial, industrial, and residential high rise projects.
  
The Opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager and due to business expansion, this is a newly created position. The purpose of this position is to plan, direct and coordinate all plant operations at optimum cost, consistent with Quality, Safety and Lean practice principles. You’ll be responsible for recommending, developing, and implementing new process solutions across Production, Transport and Maintenance.
  
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will be to:

• Lead a culture of Environmental & Safety performance
• Maintain, monitor & improve Quality awareness across Operations
• Improve cost reduction via lean manufacturing, layouts & equipment
• Recruit, lead, mentor & manage the resourcing of all Operations staff
• Liaise with GM, Ops & Accountant to maximise Operational efficiency
• Minimise operational costs to create higher margin performance
• Liaise with Production, Sales & Service Centres to fulfil supply
• Project Manage with State Ops, Production, Despatch & Maintenance

Your Skills & Attributes
Ideally you’ll have developed your career in Production and Operations, or Business Improvement or Continuous Improvement, and be able to demonstrate most of the following:

• MBA or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Lean Manufacturing
• Skilled in manufacturing, people management, coaching & delegating
• High level interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent self and team organisational abilities
• Understanding of pricing, sales and the end use of all product lines
• Understanding of maths concepts and profit/loss & income statements
• High level attention to detail, time and QS management
• Networks (eg Unions). Influence consensus with multiple stakeholders
• Understanding of MSOffice, tools & technologies used in operations
