We are seeking an Operational Manager to join our Claims and Legal teams Iin our Sydney team for a permanent, full-time role. This role is accountable for the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the national provision of claims and legal services within the Medical Indemnity team.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Drive day to day operational efficiency and effectiveness of the claims and legal teams
  • Oversee the claims and legal teams' national budget, including forecasting, allocation, and expense tracking to ensure financial efficiency and accountability.
  • Manage third party vendor arrangements relevant to the smooth operation of the teams, negotiating terms to optimize service quality and cost effectiveness including managing the appointment and coordination of external legal services under the service agreement with Avant’s external legal providers.
  • Support the leadership team in staff recruitment and training to ensure maintenance of a high performing team.
  • Coordinate compliance with legislative requirements associated with running an incorporated legal practice.
  • Support the design, management, and adoption of the teams’ knowledge management system to ensure critical information is accessible and organized.
  • Monitor claim allocation to optimize efficient and cost-effective national claims and legal support.

The successful applicant will have:

  • 5-10+ years’ operational experience
  • Business degree or other relevant qualification highly desirable
  • Legal or claims operational experience
  • Insurance and/or financial services experience
  • End-to-end operations management experience
  • People management experience (direct or indirect)
