Operations Manager (Full Time)

Australian Technical College Western Australia is one of the leading Registered Training Organisations in Western Australia. From Certificate IV to Graduate Diploma, ATCWA provides quality vocational training that specialises in Business, Leadership & Management, Hospitality, Community Services, Information Technology, Civil Construction Design, and Automotive Technology. We are located in the heart of the Perth CBD, with easy access to public transport and all amenities, and our second campus is in Sydney.
Due to the college's continuous growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Operations Manager to join our friendly and supportive team.

Position Summary:

The operations manager is responsible for overseeing the organisation's day-to-day operational activities and ensuring that the organization operates efficiently and effectively. This role's core areas of responsibilities include streamlining operations and ensuring quality, managing suppliers and inventory levels, communicating with internal and external stakeholders, and, where relevant, hiring, training, and supervising staff to achieve organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow standard operational policies and procedures that ensure the efficient and effective operation of the organisation.
  • Where necessary, develop and implement effective operational strategies that align with the organisation's overall strategy.
  • Lead and manage team members, providing direction and support to ensure training quality and students’ satisfaction.
  • Continuously evaluate organisational processes and workflows to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes to maximize efficiency.
  • Oversee resource allocation, including management of inventory, procurement of supplies, and scheduling to ensure operational excellence.
  • Develop and manage the operational budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and financial efficiency.
  • Implement rigorous quality control measures to maintain and enhance the quality of training the RTO provides.
  • Ensure operations activities comply with legislative and regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Act as a critical point of contact for students and other internal and external stakeholders regarding operational issues, ensuring clear and effective communication.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize spending and supplier relationships.
  • Manage the acquisition of resources and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with the organisation’s policies.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Where necessary, oversee recruitment, training, and development initiatives to align team capabilities with organizational needs.
  • Manage employee relations, compensation, benefits, and performance reviews and evaluations.
  • Monitor and report on operational performance, providing detailed reports on departmental successes and areas needing attention.
  • Handle operational crises effectively, making decisions that protect the organisation’s interests and maintain operational continuity.

Your Capacity:  

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or in a related field; a Master's Degree would be a plus point.
  • Proven experience in an operations management role, with a track record of successful team and operational leadership.
  • Strong understanding of organisational functions, budgeting, and performance management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capability to foster strong relationships with team members and stakeholders.
    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Working Conditions:

This role is primarily located at the main campus in Perth; however, you may be required to visit other training sites, including the campus in Sydney. Also, acting as the key emergency contact, you may be required to work outside the scheduled hours.
