We are seeking an experienced and motivated Orthopaedic & Neurosurgery Coordinator to lead and maintain excellence within our Orthopaedic service.
In this pivotal role, you will oversee the delivery of high-quality orthopaedic and neurosurgical technical services, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and safety standards. You will supervise a team of Orthopaedic and Neurosurgery Technicians, provide expert clinical and technical guidance to multidisciplinary teams, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the service.

The Position
Manage all elements of the Orthopaedic and Neuro Technician service.
Provide specialist advice to medical and nursing staff, and technical advice on composition of orthopaedic components.
Supervises orthopaedic practice and takes responsibility for standard of care delivered.
Assists Theatre Resources Manager with recruitment and workforce planning
Manages orthopaedic rosters within productivity targets.
Manages the day-to-day operations of the team, including addressing any operational, performance or behavioural issues.
Participates in the performance management of Caregivers in conjunction with the Theatre Resources Manager.
In conjunction with the Theatre Resources Manager, develops competencies for Orthopaedic Technicians and assesses Caregivers against competencies.
Is responsible for the education of Trainee Orthopaedic Technicians.
Facilitates orientation for new Orthopaedic and Neurosurgery Technicians.
Assists in the development of the annual capital budget and business plans relevant to the Department.
Reviews products and equipment and provides documentation and education on evaluation.
Maintains responsibility for ensuring the provision of a safe working environment, adhering to requirements of hospital policies and procedures relating to Work, Health and Safety and Infection Control.
Prioritise departmental workloads using resources appropriately and cost effectively.
Ensures all team duties are complete by end of shift.
Coordinates the department effectively ensuring continuity of care and takes action on problems encountered.
Ensures the maintenance of orthopaedic and neurosurgical equipment and supplies, including coordination of ordering, delivery and receipt of consignment/loan stock and instrumentation, under the direction of the Theatres Resources Manager.
Supervises preparation of all implants and instruments used in orthopaedic surgery for sterilisation and assists CSSD staff with the preparation of specialised equipment.
In conjunction with Engineering, ensures adherence to maintenance schedule for all orthopaedic and neurosurgical plant and equipment
Liaises with Theatre Resources Manager and Perioperative Flow Manager as necessary regarding customer and departmental issues.
You will hold registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse or bring relevant orthopaedic technician experience, with proven expertise in orthopaedic surgery within an acute healthcare setting. You will demonstrate advanced knowledge of orthopaedic equipment and its application, along with the ability to apply this expertise to support high-quality patient care and clinical outcomes.
To succeed in this role, you will bring previous experience in a leadership, management, or supervisory capacity, with a demonstrated ability to effectively plan and organise work activities in a fast-paced environment. You will thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting and possess well-developed communication skills, complemented by strong capabilities in conflict resolution, negotiation, and problem-solving.

We can offer you
Salary: $109,599 to $115,681(dependant on qualification & experience) per annum (pro rata for part time), plus 12% superannuation
Permanent, part-time opportunity – working 70 hours per fortnight
