Packaging Manager

The Packaging Manager will lead all packaging-related projects across GYG, overseeing the technical, operational, regulatory compliance, and financial aspects of packaging initiatives globally. This role will work collaboratively with key stakeholders in Restaurant Operations, Marketing, Operations Excellence, external vendors, and regulators to ensure packaging solutions are both efficient and sustainable. You will work closely with the Head of Procurement to make informed recommendations on vendor selection and approval, while driving sustainability efforts across the business.

What you can expect in the role:

Packaging Development & Optimisation: Lead packaging projects from concept to delivery, focusing on sustainability and cost efficiency.

Trial & Evaluation: Design, execute, and assess packaging trials, ensuring financial and operational success.

Sustainability Integration: Collaborate with suppliers to incorporate sustainability features into packaging solutions.

Compliance Leadership: Ensure global packaging compliance, managing trials and shake-downs across regions.

Stakeholder Management: Maintain relationships with key stakeholders like the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO).

Reporting & Strategy: Collaborate on sustainability and packaging-related reporting to meet targets and regulations.

Specifications & Legislation: Oversee packaging specifications and ensure compliance with waste management legislation.

 Health & Safety: Work with WH&S teams to improve packaging-related safety.

You’ll enjoy this role if you have:

• Significant experience leading packaging functions in FMCG or QSR businesses.
• Essential: Degree in a Scientific or Engineering field, AIP membership (Professional level).
• Strong coaching and leadership skills, comfortable delivering constructive feedback to a team with varying levels of expertise.
• Experience in business process optimisation, packaging evaluation, and project management.
• Strong organisational, financial management, and coaching skills.
