Payroll Manager with Chris21 experience for a leading SA employer. Reporting to the Head of People & Culture, you will lead the end-to-end payroll function across Australia while overseeing international payroll arrangements managed by third-party providers. You'll lead a small payroll team, own payroll governance and systems (including Chris21), and partner closely with People & Culture, Finance, and leaders across the organisation.If you're a seasoned payroll professional who values autonomy, collaboration, and the opportunity to lead meaningful improvements, this role ticks all the boxes.
Your new role • Manage the accurate and timely delivery of weekly and monthly payroll for corporate and operational employees• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements • Own payroll systems, processes, and controls, including Chris21 and time & attendance platforms • Oversee payroll arrangements for international employees via external providers • Lead, support and develop a small payroll team, providing coaching and clear direction • Partner with People & Culture and Finance on payroll matters and employee lifecycle activities • Deliver payroll reporting, reconciliations, and statutory obligations (STP, superannuation, payroll tax, EOFY) • Identify and deliver process and system improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability
What you'll need to succeed • Extensive end-to-end payroll management experience in a complex, award-based environment• Strong technical knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, awards, EA requirements, and compliance • Proven experience leading payroll teams and owning payroll processes • Confidence working with payroll and HR systems, including Chris21 • Experience overseeing payroll delivered by third-party global providers • Excellent communication skills and a calm, people-focused approach • High attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to manage competing priorities • A collaborative mindset with confidence partnering across People & Culture, Finance, and broader leadership
