Play a key role in delivering accurate, timely and trusted payroll services across our growing Christian College community.

South Coast Baptist College is seeking an experienced and detail-focused Payroll Officer to join our HR team and support the accurate and timely processing of payroll for College and Childcare employees.

Working closely with the Payroll Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining accurate employee records, supporting payroll processes and responding to staff enquiries, while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, awards and enterprise agreements.

About the role

Working closely with the Payroll Manager and HR team, you will:

• Process fortnightly payroll for College and Childcare employees accurately and within required timeframes.


• Set up new employees and maintain accurate and confidential payroll records.


• Collect and verify timesheets and resolve discrepancies.


• Process leave applications and maintain appropriate records.


• Monitor and manage the Payroll inbox and respond to staff enquiries.


• Prepare payroll, workforce and month-end reports as required.


• Assist with salary sacrifice arrangements and payroll-related claims and investigations.


• Assist with Centrelink Employment Separation Certificates and Workers Compensation matters.


• Support the Payroll Manager with payroll and HR-related activities as required.

About you

You are an organised, reliable and detail-focused professional who takes pride in delivering accurate payroll services and supporting staff.

You will bring:

• Experience in a similar payroll role.


• Relevant qualifications in Payroll, Accounting or a related field.


• Experience using payroll software and systems.


• Knowledge of payroll processes, employment legislation, modern awards and enterprise agreements.


• An understanding of PAYG withholding and superannuation requirements.


• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately within strict deadlines.


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


• The ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.


• A proactive approach and the ability to manage competing priorities.


• A genuine commitment to the Christian faith and the ethos and values of South Coast Baptist College, with the ability to provide a reference from a Pastor or Christian leader.
