Job Description - People Advisor

Description

We’re all about helping our members make the most of their money. And while they go after their goals, you can too. As a People Advisor, you'll support leaders and employees across our Investments, Finance, Commercial and Platforms portfolios, partnering on complex people matters that require sound judgement, resilience and a strong employee relations lens.

This is a hands-on advisory role with a significant focus on end-to-end case management. You'll manage performance, conduct, wellbeing, conflict and grievance matters, providing practical, policy-aligned advice while balancing people risk, employee experience and business outcomes.

You'll work with senior stakeholders who may challenge advice and recommendations, requiring the confidence to influence decisions, navigate difficult conversations and provide clear guidance on workplace obligations. A strong understanding of psychosocial hazards, contemporary employment legislation and risk management will be essential.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced People Advisor who can hit the ground running, thrives in complex case work and enjoys partnering with leaders to achieve fair, practical and commercially sound outcomes.

This role is a fixed term contract opportunity until April 2027 and is based in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you'll:
•    Deliver end-to-end case management across complex performance, conduct, wellbeing, conflict and grievance matters.
•    Apply an employee relations lens to case management activities, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, policies and procedural fairness.
•    Partner with leaders across Investments, Finance, Commercial and Platforms to manage sensitive people matters and mitigate people risk.
•    Provide clear, practical and commercially focused advice on complex employee relations issues.
•    Support leaders through challenging conversations, performance concerns, conduct matters and workplace conflict.
•    Manage psychosocial hazard matters in accordance with organisational frameworks and legislative requirements.
•    Assess risk, determine appropriate actions and escalate complex matters where specialist support is required.
•    Maintain detailed, accurate and compliant case documentation that meets audit and record-keeping requirements.
•    Identify trends and emerging themes across case work and provide insights to support proactive risk management and leader capability uplift.
•    Facilitate constructive outcomes while balancing employee experience, compliance requirements and business objectives.
•    Build credibility with stakeholders and confidently challenge decisions where people risks have not been adequately considered.
•    Contribute to a consistent, high-quality advisory service across the People and Impact team.

Qualifications

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

  • You have significant experience in a dedicated People Advisor, Employee Relations or HR case management role.
  • Your background includes managing complex and sensitive case work from intake through to resolution with minimal supervision.
  • You'll bring strong employee relations knowledge and confidence applying employment legislation to real-world workplace situations.
  • You're comfortable advising senior leaders and navigating stakeholder pushback while maintaining professionalism and influencing outcomes.
  • You have demonstrated experience supporting leaders through performance management, conduct concerns, workplace conflict and grievance matters.
  • Your understanding of psychosocial hazards and contemporary workplace health and safety obligations allows you to manage risk effectively.
  • You'll be highly resilient and able to maintain sound judgement while managing sensitive and emotionally complex matters.
  • You're confident balancing employee experience, organisational risk and commercial outcomes when providing advice.
  • You have exceptional attention to detail and produce high-quality documentation, correspondence and case records.
  • Your ability to identify people risks and challenge thinking constructively enables you to build credibility as a trusted advisor.
  • You'll be capable of managing competing priorities in a high-volume environment while maintaining quality and compliance.
  • You're ready to step into a role where the expectation is to contribute from day one and manage complex case work in a corporate environment.
