About the team
The Medical Workforce Unit (MWU) is a dedicated team within the People and Culture Department. MWU is responsible for providing strategic and operational service, supporting the employment of medical staff and the medical workforce needs of Peter Mac. Specifically, it provides administrative management support to the Chief Medical Officer, Medical Directors, Department and Unit Heads in the recruitment, contracting, onboarding and rostering of medical staff at Peter Mac.
About the role
In the People and Culture Advisor - Medical Workforce Unit position you will play a vital role in supporting our medical staff, and be responsible for providing efficient and effective administrative services that support the MWU. Overall, under the guidance of the Medical Workforce Unit Manager, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive, end‑to‑end operational and advisory support across the full medical workforce lifecycle.
A regular day will see but is not limited to:
- Coordinating and processing end to end recruitment, onboarding and employment administration for all medical staff, including Senior Medical Staff, Fellows, Registrars, HMOs, observers and visiting overseas clinicians.
- Coordinating and processing credentialing, scope of practice and honorary appointment documentation in line with organisational and regulatory requirements.
- Preparing, issuing, varying and terminating medical employment contracts and honorary appointments.
- Coordinating and processing visas and immigration requirements for medical staff in liaison with relevant authorities.
- Coordinating and processing AHPRA registration and compliance documentation for medical staff.
- Publishing, maintaining and monitoring medical staff rosters managed by MWU, including recall and timesheet processing where applicable.

The Medical Workforce Unit (MWU) Advisor is responsible for providing comprehensive, end‑to‑end operational and advisory support across the full medical workforce lifecycle.
Under the guidance of the Manager MWU the MWU Advisor supports the Chief Medical Officer, Medical Directors, Department and Unit Heads by coordinating recruitment, credentialing, contracting, onboarding, rostering, employment variations, and termination processes for all medical staff. The role also provides specialist technical advice on medical workforce administration, compliance, and systems, while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen service quality, consistency, and workforce experience.
