THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a full-time Picker/Packer - Shed Hand to join our Team, in Dandenong South, Victoria.

The casual Shed Hand position will provide support to the Operations Department of Woodhouse Timber Company. 

This role places a strong focus on contributing to our vision of being fast, flexible and frequent.  A reasonable level of fitness is required as this role requires repetitive twisting, bending, lifting, stretching and manual handling.  You will report directly to the warehouse supervisor. 

Applicants with warehouse pick & pack experience are encouraged to apply, and applicants with a Forklift Licence will be highly regarded.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Uphold and abide by Woodhouse Timber’s safety management system;
• Pull, pack, strap and wrap timber orders in a timely, efficient manner;
• Clearly be able to read and understand customer orders; 
• Have legible/reasonable hand writing; 
• Rack timber as required following Woodhouse Timber’s manual handling procedure (up to 30kg);
• Communicate clearly and politely with drivers, customers and office staff;
• Safely operate a docking saw (training will be provided);
• Keep your designated work area clean and tidy;
• Assist in cleaning communal areas;
• Follow stock procedures as directed by the warehouse supervisor; and
• Undertake additional duties as and when required by your warehouse supervisor or management.

• Must possess a great work ethic and willingness to work in a team environment;
• Proficient written & verbal communication skills;
• Excellent time management;
• Ability to make sound decisions;
• Physically capable of undertaking hands-on and repetitive heavy lifting (up to 30kg); and
• Ability to work autonomously.

HIGHLY REGARDED

• Forklift licence and experience;
• Prior experience in the timber sector and/or warehousing;
• Previous experience with manual handling roles; and
• RF scanning experience.
