Job Description - Planning Manager

The successful applicant will be an inspirational leader, problem solver, results oriented, innovative and analytical. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with senior leaders and lead a team responsible for generating sales forecasting, optimal inventory management for both finished products and critical raw materials. The Planning Manager requires strategic thinking to ensure plans are crafted anticipating potential scenarios and implemented in a timely manner. In this role, you will be pivotal in connecting various departments including finance, manufacturing, sales and warehousing; developing and communicating critical reporting that highlights financial impact.

 

The successful applicant will initially provide coverage for maternity leave and then transfer into an ongoing opportunity.

What We Expect:

  •   Collaborate with the senior department leaders and the Supply Chain Director to establish the inventory ordering and replenishment strategies (for both finished products and key raw materials like silk).
  • Cascade relevant business information to the team for sales forecasting, seasonality calculations and factory capacity projections.
  • Lead the team to ensure inventory management scenarios are drafted and evaluated according to the Executive strategy.
  • Review key reporting (such as aged or excess stock) to provide the Director and senior leaders recommendations to reduce or avoid inventory costs. ordering and replenishment strategies (for both finished products and key raw materials like silk).
  • Mentor, coach and consult department team members on performance expectations.
  • Create a continuous improvement mindset within the team, supporting and coaching the team on how to identify opportunities and use the correct methodology for implementing the changes.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Industrial Engineering, Commerce or similar. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in supply chain management with a proven ability to identify key issues, and to carry forward an idea or project from conception to execution.
  • A strong people leader who thrives on sharing knowledge and insights with the team to further develop their skills.
  • Ability to use reporting tools which drive analysis of real-time information and establish key performance metrics.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to manage projects through to implementation.
  • Ability to work effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and strong numeracy skills.
  • Knowledge of efficiency models such as Lean or Six Sigma and the ability to diagnose, investigate and implement improvement opportunities are highly desirable.
  • Strong ERP knowledge with system improvement experience highly regarded.
