Job Description - Portfolio Manager - APAC - Urgent Hiring

We are hiring an ambitious Portfolio Manager - APAC to join our productive team at Xe in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

Reporting to the Head of Sales - AUS, Xe’s Portfolio Managers are responsible for managing Xe’s portfolio of small to medium sized business clients that utilize Xe’s online services.

 What you’ll do; 

  • Adhere to and remain up to date with all Australian and New Zealand regulatory requirements and Xe’s policies and procedures.
  • Share management with other Portfolio Managers, of a portfolio of small to medium sized business clients, taking ownership of the relationships and ensuring that Xe wins as much of the transactional business as possible from each client.
  • Assisting clients with achieving their FX objectives through Xe’s suite of online tools.
  • Where online services are not possible, supporting clients with accurate pricing and execution of FX transactions when receiving client instructions.
  • Supporting your clients to manage their upcoming FX hedging contracts with proactive service.
  • Assessing the suitability of clients to different products and services offered by Xe, in line with Xe procedures.
  • Urgently flagging any issues that arise with management, whether they arise from something you have done, something someone else has done, or issues that arise from external factors.
  • Referring any new business opportunities to the sales team, or larger dealing opportunities to the Corporate FX Dealing team.
  • Communicating with sales/compliance/back-office teams to resolve clients’ issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain awareness of financial markets, including economic events and data releases, including writing market commentaries.
  • Preparing, submitting, and managing credit applications and trading limits for clients entering derivative FX transactions.
  • Maintaining the KYC and Wholesale/Retail status of the clients in the portfolio, in line with policy and procedures.
  • Making margin calls and ensuring your clients timely payment of margin when required.
  • Maintaining your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours, as required.
  • Achieving and maintaining required training requirements, including RG146 and NZFMA Bridging Exams, or as required.
  • Participating in Xe training sessions, meetings, campaigns, and events as required.
  • Working closely with the rest of the Xe dealing team to maintain complete coverage of Xe’s Corporate client base when team members are on leave of any kind. Who you are

Who you are;

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in finance, Economics, Business, or a related field. 
  • Previous experience in a FX Dealer or Sales role with demonstrated sales tenacity.
  • Outstanding client service skills.
  • A ‘natural’ when it comes to online services and assisting clients with managing their needs online.
  • Interest in and experience monitoring financial markets.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively.
  • System skills (Office Packages, phone systems, deal pricing and execution systems, internal systems).
  • Strong numeric skills.
  • Excellent time-management skills to ensure full coverage of client base.
  • Results orientated and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Takes ownership and uses initiative to improve business processes and productivity.
  • Exceptionally high attention to detail.
  • Operates with integrity, professionalism, commercialism, and respect.
