Job Description - Portfolio Operations Manager, Strategy and Governance

Role type: Full Time, Continuing
Department: Chancellery; Deputy Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Portfolio
Salary: UOM 10 - $156,480 per annum (pro rata for part-time) plus 17% super

Your next career opportunity
You will lead strategic operations, governance and planning across the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Portfolio.
You will design frameworks, streamline processes and guide a high-performing team to enhance portfolio impact.

What you will deliver:

  • Provide strategic advice to the Director and executives, aligning portfolio outcomes with University objectives.
  • Design and implement governance and decision-making frameworks for internal portfolio bodies and University forums.
  • Lead, develop and coordinate the Executive Support Team to deliver efficient, high-quality operational support.
  • Drive continuous improvement in processes, planning, risk management and compliance across the Indigenous Portfolio.
  • Champion effective knowledge management, resource allocation and strategic enablers that support complex projects and initiatives.

You may be a great fit if you:

  • Bring substantial experience in strategic and operational planning within complex organisations, ideally research or higher education.
  • Lead high-performing professional teams, supporting development and fostering collaborative, performance-focused cultures.
  • Advise senior executives on resource allocation, operational improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Influence diverse stakeholders, including academics and professional staff across Indigenous and Chancellery portfolios.
  • Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to design innovative, agile operational solutions.
  • Operate autonomously, exercising sound judgement and making timely decisions in fast-paced environments.

Your new team – Deputy Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Portfolio

Within the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Portfolio, you will join a small, influential team shaping university-wide Indigenous strategy, research and engagement. The team partners closely with Chancellery and faculties to align initiatives, governance and resources with Indigenous priorities and community expectations.
