Job Description - Practice Manager

OUR COMPANY  

Priah Chartered Accountants provides accounting and business advisory services to a wide range of clients, including individuals, small to medium businesses, investment entities and SMSFs. We are particularly passionate about supporting female business owners with their taxation needs so that they are free to do what they do best in their businesses.

Our new digs are in the lovely leafy suburb of Lyneham. The office is light, bright and colourful just like Jackie the principal of Priah. Jackie refers to it as the perfect entertainer’s office! Being close to the city usually means parking is hard to come by but with the light rail stop at the doorstep to the office and parking available on site you won't have to worry about the commute. 

 

Even though Priah has a nice new office, going into the office every single day isn’t for everyone. We offer flexible working arrangements so that your life doesn’t need to revolve around work but works with it. 

 

At Priah we enjoy being different and bringing our personalities into our work. We aren’t robots and don’t expect you to be either!  

 

PURPOSE OF ROLE 

 This is a pivotal role within our business which will see the successful candidate managing all aspects of staff, office and internal processes. This position directly supports Jackie with the management of the business day to day, as well as staff. You will be her 2IC and a bouncing board. The role requires you to embody the Priah values and encourage all staff to do the same. 

 

YOUR ROLE 

As the Practice Manager, you are the go-to person, the mister or misses fix it if you would like.  You are the string that ties our clients, the admin team, the accountants, and Jackie together. You play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient operation of the firm. 

This position is an office leadership role where the successful candidate will provide direction, support, and cohesion for the team. Along with Jackie, the Practice Manager will lead by example to strengthen the office culture through open communication, a positive outlook, and a sense of humour, as well as promoting excellence in everything that we do. 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Operational Management: Oversee day to day operations of the firm to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. 
  • Staff Management: Lead, mentor and support staff and performance.  
  • Financial Management: Supporting Jackie with the budgeting, billing, financial reporting, accounts and financial planning and analysis of Priah. 
  • Compliance and Risk Management: ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and professional standards. 
  • Systems and Processes: Review and Improvement of systems and processes across the firm. 
  • Strategic Planning: Assisting in the development and execution of the firm’s strategic plan.

  • Attention to Detail: A high level of attention to detail and accuracy is key, when you are dealing with numbers day in and day out. 
  • Communication: Understanding the importance of high-quality grammar and expression in your written and verbal communication 
  • Proactive: You don’t need to be able to see the future, but being able to anticipate the challenges and take initiative to identify solutions before issues arise.
  • Organised: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality.
  • Motivated: A self- starter that can work independently - tax season is a thing. Good is never enough attitude - You have the drive to continue growing and striving for better. 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE 

 

  • At least 5 years’ experience as a practice manager within an accounting firm or professional services organisation. 
  • Experience with management of a team ideally in corporate but experience with sporting teams is acceptable.
  • Sound judgement and ability to analyse and resolve situations.

We offer a unique “set your own wage” remuneration package. You need to be prepared that your KPI’s may change pending what you decide to set your wage at. We value our team and want to work with you to help you achieve your career goals.
