Job Description - Pricing Analyst

The Life team provides reinsurance services for the life industry in Australia and New Zealand. The Life team operates in Retail, Group and Direct markets. We have expertise in many areas, such as product, pricing, claims management underwriting.

The Commercial team oversees MRAs client relationships, with a focus on Retail and Direct insurance. The team provides advice to all aspects of pricing, product design, claims and underwriting. The team also brings Munich Re's global insights and capabilities to the Australian and New Zealand market.

Your Role

  • Actuarial Analysis - Provision of actuarial analysis, modelling, reporting and documentation in support of:
    • Repricing of existing business
    • Transactions to optimise the existing business, including recaptures
    • PDS, policy, treaty or manual reviews
  • Modelling - Maintain and enhance actuarial pricing models to improve efficiency, accuracy, controls and outputs from actuarial pricing models
  • Technical Reviews - Review documentation (e.g. client material such as PDS or policy wording, or MRA documents such as treaties and manuals) for technical accuracy and actuarial analysis of peers, as required
  • Stakeholder Management and Collaboration - Work effectively with stakeholders including the wider pricing team, valuation, data transformation team and other areas of the business. Proactively collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure effective communication, knowledge-sharing and support of initiatives and projects
  • Continuous Development / Training - Maintain knowledge of current actuarial developments and developments in the insurance industry, by:
    • Progress with Institute exams
    • Attending sessional meetings
    • Continuing Professional Development

Your Profile

  • Tertiary degree (major in actuarial studies/science preferred)
  • Progress towards qualification as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia
  • Some actuarial pricing experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of the Life Insurance Acts in Australia and New Zealand, likely to
  • be developed through classroom training
  • Familiarity with Australian individual risk (Retail and Direct) products, e.g. product
  • features, benefits, pricing, reserving
  • Some understanding of current market environment and topical issues
