Principal Advisor (Test Lead) , Transport and Main Roads

Business Solution Delivery (BSD) provides information communication technology (ICT) project management services to TMR, which contribute to the delivery of Transport Main Roads (TMR's) ICT Program of Work As the Principal Advisor (Test Lead), some of your responsibilities will include:

• Develop, manage, and continuously improve BSD testing processes and procedures to ensure alignment with ITB test frameworks and contribute to high quality of software, within departmental guardrails.
• Manage the activities of the BSD testing team by:
  
  • Estimating, planning, and reviewing system testing for projects. 
  • Monitoring and reviewing testing resource requests. 
  • Assigning testers to projects, with input from BSD Resource Management, Program Managers, and Project Managers. 
  • Managing the BSD testing team workload and capacity in consultation with BSD Resource Management, Program Managers, and Project Managers.
  • Ensuring that project testing milestones are realistic and adhering to the overall project schedule
  • Liaising with project and support teams to ensure that software has been successfully tested and is ready for release. 
  • Improving the BSD project test estimate process by reconciling estimates with actuals at the end of the project to identify lessons learned for future estimates.
• Ensure a focus on automated testing in an Agile or Waterfall environment by:
  
  • Identifying, developing, and executing automated testing strategies.
  • Applying working knowledge of Continuous Integration, Continuous Development to provide automated approaches.
  • Guiding the transition from manual test methods to automated testing methods.
• Prepare appropriate status and completion reports concerning testing, including presenting an aggregate view of test utilisation to management.
• Maintain awareness of industry best practice in testing methods and tools.

Requirements of the role:

• Experienced Waterfall and Agile project delivery methodologies with a focus on automated testing capabilities, including regression testing tools and processes.
• Demonstrated experience or certification in Agile, ITIL v3/v4.
