The Executive Director of Catholic Education Western Australia Limited (CEWA) invites applications for the Principalship role at St Gerard's Catholic Primary School based in Westminster commencing 20 April 2026 (Term 2, 2026).

St Gerard’s Catholic Primary School is a co-educational school for students from Kindergarten to Year Six, serving families in the north-eastern suburbs of Perth. Established in the Mercy tradition and located alongside St Gerard Majella Church, the school is committed to providing an outstanding, faith-filled education within a safe, secure and caring environment.

• Witnesses a strong personal faith and fosters enduring partnerships with St Gerard Majella Parish to deepen Catholic identity across the community, while honouring and respecting the community’s multi‑faith character.

• Demonstrates expertise in leading evidence‑based literacy and numeracy interventions, including EAL/D, across all year levels, ensuring learning is scaffolded to accelerate progress and supported by inclusive, culturally responsive practices.


• Fosters a culture that recognises and nurtures the potential of all students, providing high‑quality learning experiences that help them realise their God‑given abilities, with a strong focus on literacy and numeracy through evidence‑based practices.

Community 

• Leverages highly developed interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with families and staff through visible presence, an approachable ‘open‑door’ style of listening, and transparent communication.


• Leads and sustains a safe, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment that values diversity, fosters equity, and supports the growth, engagement, and well‑being of students, staff, parents, and the wider school community.

Stewardship 

• Works collaboratively with school, system, and community members to plan, allocate, and sustain finances and facilities that effectively meet the school’s current and future needs.

Selection Criteria:

• Practising Catholic and experienced educator committed to Catholic Education.


• Accredited for Leadership of a Catholic School Community or equivalent.


• A collaborative and future-focused leader who understands and supports the strategic priorities of the broader Catholic Education system. 


• A relevant Master’s degree (or working towards completion) with the ability to apply advanced leadership and management principles to both the day-to-day and long-term leadership of a school is highly desirable.


• Current Teacher Registration for Western Australia (TRBWA).


• Current WA Working with Children Check (WA WWCC).
