Job Description - Process Engineer Silanna UV

Join a passionate team of multi-disciplined engineers, where you can contribute to our success story by collaboratively solving challenging problems.

  1. Be a part of designing and manufacturing innovative products
  2. Continuous learning is what we do
  3. Use your engineering skills

The Team

Silanna is looking for a Process Engineer to join our team of innovative engineers, who are driven to collaboratively solve technically challenging problems in close-knit interdisciplinary engineering teams.

  • Are you interested in working at the cutting edge of compound semiconductor process development?
  • Are you eager to put on your detective hat and comb through data to search for the key clues that can advance the state-of-art of semiconductor fabrication processes?
  • Do you look at a process and instinctively think “There are better ways of doing this?”
  • Are you as comfortable reading code (C/Python/Matlab or similar) as you are reading an engineering textbook (or interested to learn this)?

If you answer an enthusiastic “YES” to these questions, then you will enjoy working with us.

Your New Position

We are looking for a like-minded Process Engineer to join us at our new R&D and manufacturing facility in Brisbane. Working under the general direction and guidance of the MBE Process Manager, you as the Process Engineer will play a critical role in the Engineering Department and will be primarily focused on developing, optimising and sustaining epitaxial growth processes on Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) tools for compound semiconductor R&D and manufacturing. This is a highly collaborative role with other key specialist engineers, where you will work on projects focused on research, development, and industrialization of new compound semiconductor products.

Successful candidates will be provided with an in-house developed four months training program that is focused on hands-on MBE operation and MBE theoretical knowledge. To ensure your ongoing development success as a specialist in this area, continuous on-the-job training will be provided.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Daily operation of MBE systems including loading/unloading of wafers, batch mode and recipe setup, process monitoring, and maintaining all relevant documentation.
  • Planning and scheduling MBE processes to maximize the throughput of MBE systems.
  • Collaborating with equipment and facility teams to solve and troubleshoot equipment issues and assist with various maintenance activities to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Developing new epitaxial recipes (based on the C/C++ language) for the implementation of new epitaxial processes or device structures in-line with compound semiconductor R&D and manufacturing strategy and roadmaps.
  • Creating standard operating procedures and related technical documents.

About You

You will be degree qualified in any engineering or science discipline, ideally with exposure to semiconductor processing technology such as thin film deposition, photolithography, or etch processes (at least one-year hands-on experience in any of these areas will be highly regarded). Amongst your many personable attributes, you will be a proactive, analytical and mechanically minded individual contributor, with a keen eye for detail who thrives on solving technically challenging problems. You are practical, mechanically inclined, self-motivated, and able to work effectively with others as well as independently. Excellent time management, organisational, communication, interpersonal and analytical skills are essential. You will enjoy the opportunity to continually learn and deepen your understanding of this highly technical and innovative area.

If you are about to graduate, have graduated or are a seasoned professional looking to transfer your experience and capabilities, and are willing to invest your time and effort required to become a specialist in this niche and innovative field, then please apply by outlining how your experiences, skills and personal attributes will enable you to be successful in this role.

Come and make a difference with us

National Police background checks will be undertaken for the preferred candidate.
