About the role

The Procurement Manager will maximise value from strategic suppliers by leveraging market intelligence, insights, and best‑in‑class procurement processes. The role focuses on delivering new sources of value beyond cost—such as innovation, operational efficiency, and risk management—to enhance stakeholder satisfaction and influence key business decisions related to external expenditure.

This position is accountable for developing and leading procurement activities across the organisation, with a particular focus on Enterprise spend, Source‑to‑Contract strategies, and the commercial management of strategic supplier contracts.

The role will drive commercial outcomes across AGL by leading program‑level procurement activities, shaping and executing commercial strategies across major spend initiatives, and ensuring strong governance over supplier performance and activity.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead and develop the enterprise procurement team to align with enterprise priorities and deliver strong, consistent commercial outcomes.
  • Be an active member of the Retail & Corporate Procurement Leadership Team, contributing to the development and execution of procurement strategies across the organisation.
  • Lead complex commercial negotiations and support critical sourcing activities.
  • Liaise with business stakeholders on requirements, contracts, and category strategies.
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders to implement course corrections and mitigation strategies as required.
  • Oversee the commercial and governance framework for major projects and supplier engagements.
  • Enable and facilitate strategic engagement between stakeholders and suppliers through an effective communication and governance model.
  • Grow and strengthen supplier relationships to drive high-quality services and performance that deliver operational excellence and business value.
  • Implement and manage a Continuous Service Improvement (CSI) process with suppliers and leverage initiatives to create additional value beyond contract requirements.
  • Focus on optimising contract performance and mitigating supply and commercial risks through collaborative working.
  • Provide guidance to stakeholder groups on procurement policies, sourcing processes, and contract management practices.
  • Manage supply risk and ensure compliance with responsible sourcing, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven leadership experience in leading and developing teams and managing projects to deliver complex initiatives and outcomes.
  • Talent development experience to support capability uplift across procurement teams.
  • Strong planning and prioritisation capability to ensure efficient and effective procurement delivery.
  • Extensive experience working on large-scale initiatives with a proven ability to lead transformation and drive positive change.
  • Proven experience operating within enterprise functions in complex, matrixed environments.
  • Strong understanding of business drivers and challenges within a large-scale organisation and best practice procurement approaches.
  • Proven ability to influence and operate effectively within a complex stakeholder landscape.
  • Highly developed capability in developing and executing strategic sourcing and category plans.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and project management skills.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to develop clear and effective procurement strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to apply strong negotiation and influencing skills in a collaborative manner.
  • Proven capability to build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders and external partners.
  • Experience in managing supplier disputes and resolving commercial conflicts.
  • Experience across outsourced service models and supplier delivery environments.
  • Strong knowledge of supplier performance management and operational service delivery frameworks.
