The opportunity

The Product Specialist, Primary, is responsible for contributing to and implementing product (print, digital and blended) strategies for primary (local and export) through informed market research. This role will also be responsible for creating and developing products (print, digital and blended) to achieve portfolio revenue and profit targets. 

The role

You'll be focused on:

  • Conducting customer and market research to inform product development, and providing expert guidance, informed by knowledge of the science of learning and learning design principles, on product development and improvement to ensure that Primary products meet the needs of educators and learners.
  • Utilise strong knowledge of Primary pedagogical, curriculum and assessment approaches to support the learning design of educational materials that create positive learning experiences for educators and students, and achieve success in the market
  • Collaborate to ensure the quality and integrity of product development, while also managing projects and build relationships with stakeholders
  • Leverage current knowledge of, industry trends, educational standards and technological advancements to continuously improve product offerings
  • Provide training and support to the Sales team and customers on the features and benefits of products, by creating and delivering presentations, webinars and training sessions as required

Attributes: 

  • Market awareness, including competition, curriculum developments and current classroom practice including trends in use of digital learning technologies
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project timelines and budget
  • Ability to make objective, sound, market-informed and data-driven decisions for the good of the overall division; helps to anticipate future consequences and trends accurately
  • Customer-focused; determines customer needs and challenges and translates those to product and value story for the market 
  • Understands financial consequences of actions, focusing on what is profitable
  • Ability to identify the key issues in complex situations, apply good judgement and timely decision-making to prioritise work and effort; ability to disseminate complex information so that others can deal with it effectively
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to network, put others at ease and build rapport

Qualification and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification (Bachelor of Education preferable)
  • Teaching experience would be advantageous
  • Learning design experience and knowledge would be advantageous
  • Experience developing educational resources (desirable, but not essential)
