With one of the largest listed defence company market capitalisations in Australia and having raised approximately $250m in 2024 alone, DroneShield is undergoing hypergrowth stage, fuelled by rapidly increasing use of drones for nefarious applications, from battlefield, to terrorism, to contraband delivery and commercial espionage. This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney. There are approximately 290 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 350 staff by end of 2026. Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally. About the role We are looking for a technical Product Intelligence Manager to own the process for collecting information, competitive analysis, performing analysis and strategic technology scouting, then distributing findings to the technical, sales and executive teams. This role requires a deep understanding of the technology involved in uncrewed systems, DroneShield products, and other EW, ELINT and C-UAS systems. This role will be responsible for dialogue with our Sales, Marketing and Engineering teams to enable their success and drive go-to-market strategy. The role will report to Vice President of Product and operate within the Product Department of the Technology Team. Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations Generate and maintain a deep understanding of the strategic landscape around UAS, UxS, C-UAS and C-UxS technology in both theoretical (emerging) and real-world (deployed) capacities. Analyse both perspectives to understand and communicate the current capabilities and predicted trajectory. Develop a deep understanding of DroneShield products, and the associated technologies in the sector, including adjacent capabilities and emerging concepts. Understand the global market of each technology, including regulatory and compliance. Translate capability gaps and threat evolution into clear technical requirements and product recommendations. Develop and maintain a live competitive intelligence database across peer and adjacent technologies, products and competitors in the C-UAS and broader defence sensor ecosystem. Research, engage, develop and support strategic partnerships by providing technical due diligence and integration pathway mapping. Work cross-functionally with sales, product, and engineering teams to inform product direction and messaging with up-to-date market intelligence. Represent DroneShield at trade shows, technical consortiums, and customer briefings as a subject matter expert on the C-UxS industry. Liaise with government and industry bodies to understand how regulations apply to emerging products and technologies Collaborate with product, engineering, and marketing teams to develop and execute ‘Go-to-market' plans for new products and partnerships, and to select strategies to develop existing products based on feedback and market needs. Write and oversee the creation of whitepapers, case studies and analytical reports. Work with marketing team to curate commercial posture. Qualifications, Experience and Skills Bachelor’s degree in a STEM related field, or relevant industry experience in Defence, Aerospace, or High-technology industries. 5+ years of experience in industry analysis, corporate intelligence, strategic advisory, technical marketing, or sales enablement roles. Ideally supported by a background in public sector, Defence, or Critical Infrastructure (aviation, energy, etc). Strong understanding of sensor/effector technologies, C2 systems, data fusion, and counter-UAS systems (RF, radar, acoustic, seismic, EO/IR) is ideal. Sound understanding of regulatory compliance (e.g., ACMA, CE, FCC, ITAR, FAR, DFARS, DEC, STANAG, ISO) is beneficial. Familiarity with military technology, defence software solutions, cybersecurity, or defence communications systems. Ability to translate complex defence technology concepts into clear messaging for both technical and non-technical audiences. Understanding of mission-critical systems, ruggedised hardware, secure communications, AI/ML applications in defence, or aerospace technology. Ability to work cross-functionally with engineers, sales teams, government agencies, and defence contractors. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience developing white papers, RFP responses, and defence-related technical documentation and sales collateral.
