Job Description - Product Owner, Cyber Security Risk Forecasting

About Us

At ANZ, we're shaping a world where people and communities thrive, driven by a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.

About the Role

Your role as a Product Owner, Risk Forecasting, is to enable and inspire a multi-disciplinary team ('Squad') to pursue its mission to operationalise an attackchainaligned risk posture, drive remediation of hightoextreme vulnerabilities, and deliver boardmandated and APRAregulated Cyber Security obligations, translating cyber risk insights into actionable, executive decision pathways.

The Product Owner guides the ‘squad’ on 'what' work should be completed and constantly prioritises tasks and the squad’s backlog with the customer (i.e. internal and external stakeholders) at the heart of their decision making. The Product Owner also ensures that the work is strategically aligned to the tribe mission and engages with other Product Owners to align and manage inter-dependencies. Whilst this role is not a people manager, it is a key leadership role, galvanising the squad around a vision and supporting them to successfully deliver stakeholder value at pace.

Banking is changing and we’re changing with it, giving our people great opportunities to try new things, learn and grow. Whatever your role at ANZ, you’ll be building your future, while helping to build ours.

Role Type: Permanent
Role Location:
L2A/833 Collins Street, Docklands VIC 3008
Work Hours:
40 Hours per week

What will your day look like?

This role includes the following responsibilities:

  • Define and communicate the product vision for Cyber Security Risk Forecasting, including the outcomes, measures of success, and an aligned delivery roadmap

  • Maintain and evolve a unified risk framework that supports consistent prioritisation and investment decisions across cyber risk themes.

  • Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of an attack‑chain‑aligned risk posture, ensuring forecasting outputs are decision‑useful and support prioritised remediation.

  • Ensure strategic alignment to the domain/tribe mission, coordinating cross‑product dependencies with peer Product Owners.

  • Partner with security SMEs and analytics teams to ensure risk forecasting is grounded in credible threat/risk models and is fit for executive reporting and investment governance.

  • Maintain a focus on material risk reduction outcomes and coordinate sustained action across divisions.

  • Define and track outcome measures (e.g., risk posture movement, reduction in exposure, progress, delivery throughput, stakeholder value) and drive continuous improvement in the product operating rhythm.

  • Enabling and inspiring a multi-disciplinary and technically focused Squad to pursue the delivery of work.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • “T-shaped individual” – Possess a breadth of knowledge in many fields, but also have depth in cyber security risk concepts, including risk posture, vulnerability risk, remediation prioritisation, and security control outcomes.

  • Strong written and verbal communication with experience translating cyber risk into business outcomes and executive reporting/decision support.

  • Experience with briefing Board/C-level executives including producing executive strategies/risk communication

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills across security, engineering, risk, and senior leadership; able to drive alignment and resolve conflict/trade‑offs.

  • Willingness to look at things differently, challenge the status quo and innovate

  • Proven ability to operate within governance and assurance expectations typical of large financial institutions, including defined accountability and controls orientation (consistent with CPS 234 expectations).

You’re not expected to have 100% of these skills. At ANZ a growth mindset is at the heart of our culture, so if you have most of these things in your toolbox, we’d love to hear from you.

So why join us?

From the moment you join ANZ, you'll be doing meaningful work that will shape a world where people and communities thrive.
