Harris Smokehouse is a 4th generation, family owned and operated premium seafood manufacturer. Located in the Adelaide Hills, we produce food service and retail products with a national distribution platform.
Qualifications & experience
- Understanding and complying with all safety policies, procedures, and practices
- Precision knife skills and judgment across a wide range of tasks
- Working independently and with other team members to trim, weigh and prepare raw fish products
- Manual handling - various projects and materials
- Working around machinery
- Proficient knife sharpening skills and experience
- Available to work extra hours as and when required (Christmas & Easter)
- Reliable, hardworking and self-motivated
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment on your feet
- Manual and repetitive tasks
Tasks & responsibilities
- Experience processing work
- Ability and experience to sharpen knives is desirable
- Enthusiastic, reliable, and hard working
- Have a sound understanding of importance of good hygiene, PPE, and safety practices
- Product movement and storage
- Regular heavy lifting 25kg+
- Great communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Processing of raw seafood (weighing, packing & quality checking)
- Cleaning and sanitation of processing areas to Food Safety standards
- Chemical handling
- General labouring, machine operating and production duties
- Accurate fast paced work & continual flow, ensure the presentation of site, staff and equipment is to a high standard.
